Great Basin HealthNet is a vibrant success story because of the
support of Southern Nevada health care and safety net
providers and the community at large. Without the support of
physician practices, large multi-specialty groups, acute
care hospitals and our safety net providers, this project
would not exist.
We have a health care community that is committed to caring
for those in need by the provision of discounted health care
services that are affordable to the uninsured. Great Basin
HealthNet
is a free
service matching the members of our
provider network
with patients in need of affordable medical care in a model
that respects the provider practices and the patient alike.
The provider network is comprised by various multi-specialty
groups, sole practitioners, hospitals, radiology and lab
services, outpatient surgery centers and other
providers. Great Basin HealthNet provides
free care management
services for each individual who requires referral to a
specialty provider or service. This allows the program to
manage utilization and work with the provider network to
ensure continuity of care.
The fact that so many citizens of our community are
uninsured or underinsured impacts each of us either directly
or indirectly. Involvement by caring health care
professionals in Great Basin HealthNet is one way to address this
growing crisis.
Every day thousands of people in our community contact
health care providers in search of an affordable alternative
for primary and secondary medical care. Specialty medical
service providers are sometime inundated with calls from
clinics and patients seeking discounted care because there
is no insurance. Providers must wrestle with who they can
serve at discount without sacrificing the economic security
of their practices. This process can be very frustrating
for provider staff and patients. However, within the
provider network, callers are directed to Great Basin
HealthNet so
they can be included in the program and then a
single point of contact
exists with the provider’s practice for the discounted care.
In addition, especially in the case of some specialty
services, a willingness to provide discounted services to
some people cannot produce successful results because the
patient has no resources for further care. For example, a
cardiologist who is willing to see a patient at discounted
rates winds up feeling frustrated because a recommendation
for an additional procedure such as an angiogram is not
possible for the patient’s lack of resources.
For these reasons, Great Basin HealthNet has provided a very special
opportunity for provider and patient by developing a
complete horizontal network
from primary care through hospitalization when necessary.
It is the only way to ensure positive medical outcomes. With
Great Basin HealthNet, the patient is always under the care
management of the program and connected with the provider
network so that all necessary procedures are possible to
achieve.
If any of the above is familiar to you, then perhaps,
becoming a member of the Great Basin HealthNet provider network might
be a great addition to your practice. Please contact us via
e-mail or phone to converse with a provider recruitment
specialist.
The great majority of discounted health care services in our
community are provided by private medical practices. We
greatly honor all that each provider does for the vulnerable
members of our society.
Great Basin HealthNet is our way of helping you manage your
generosity to everyone’s benefit.
