WHEREAS, the State of Nevada will observe the Fourth Annual "Safety Net Provider Day" sponsored by the Great Basin Primary Care Association, February 13, 2007, which will serve as an opportunity to recognize the dedicated health care professionals who serve as the primary health care "Safety Net" to Nevadans; and WHEREAS, the State of Nevada recognizes the relationship between Nevada residents and "Nevada’s Safety Net Providers" who are committed to their important role of providing access to affordable quality health care services to Nevadans; and WHEREAS, legislators, health care providers, parents, educators, businesses and other Nevada residents will recognize the need to reduce the number of uninsured and under insured Nevadans through outreach, education and the creation of public awareness campaigns; and WHEREAS, the State of Nevada recognizes the future leaders of Nevada are our children and the essential relationship between a child’s ability to learn and their access to comprehensive health care services; and WHEREAS, it is particularly fitting for Nevadan’s to participate in and support community-based accessible, quality and affordable comprehensive primary health care services and encourage partnerships between federal, state, local government, non-profit agencies and other businesses in achieving the primary goal health care for all Nevadans; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting that legislators, physicians, parents, educators, businesses, and other members of Nevada’s communities join in this celebration as an effort to guarantee the support for community-based accessible, quality and affordable comprehensive primary health care services for each resident of Nevada; NOW, THEREFORE, I, JIM GIBBONS, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim February 13, 2007 as SAFETY NET PROVIDER DAY
