Percentage Uninsured

Compared to the U.S., Nevada’s uninsured as a percent of the total population has been consistently higher; however, this gap widened again in 2005 and 2006 from 2003 and 2004.

Medicaid Coverage

Medicaid coverage as a percent of the total population continues to be lower in Nevada than in the U.S. as a whole which may explain some of the differences between the uninsured rate’s of the U.S. and Nevada.

Medicare Coverage

Medicare coverage in Nevada, while lower than the U.S. in former years, is showing about the same rate of coverage as the U.S. in recent years.

Private Insurance

Private insurance coverage has shown a slight trend downward over time both in the U.S. and Nevada; however, in 2005 and 2006, Nevada has seen an increase in private coverage from 2004.
